Citizens Bank to Award $2500 in Scholarships

Citizens Bank of West Virginia announces they are now accepting entries for $2500 in scholarships to be awarded to 2010 graduates in Randolph, Tucker and Pocahontas counties. This is the eighth consecutive year of the Citizens Scholar Award program, with 35 scholarships previously issued to assist students in their quest for higher education.

Scholarship applications are now available in local high school guidance offices or at any Citizens Bank office in Elkins, Parsons, Beverly and Snowshoe. Students may also apply online at www.citizenswv.com.

To be eligible, applicants must enroll as a full-time student for the 2010 Fall/Winter term at any West Virginia college, university or school and must have a cumulative 3.0 G.P.A.; additional requirements are outlined in the application. Scholarship award recipients will be notified of their selection in May.

“Citizens Bank’s scholarship program is an example of its long-standing tradition of community service and commitment to the education of our future civic and business leaders,” said Kathy Leombruno, senior vice president & marketing officer. “We recognize the importance of higher education and the associated rising costs; we encourage high school seniors to apply for Citizens Scholar Awards that may be used towards tuition, housing or books.”

The application deadline to apply for a Citizens Scholar Award is April 16, 2010.
