CNB Contributes $6000 to YMCA Aquatics Program

Citizens National Bank has pledged a financial contribution of $6000 to the Elkins YMCA to provide a comprehensive aquatics program for the community. The bank’s donation will allow the YMCA to offer the delivery of a new therapeutic program endorsed by the National Arthritis Foundation as well as a wheelchair accessible ramp into the pool.

Traditionally focused on swim curriculum, certification and aqua fitness, Citizens National Bank’s financial support enables the YMCA to introduce aqua therapy for persons with arthritis in addition to new aquatics programs, instructor training courses and new equipment.

“Aqua therapy programs provide an opportunity for people with arthritis to participate in a recreational group activity ,” commented YMCA Executive Director Jill Stalnaker. “The program we are introducing, thanks to CNB, is a recreational activity medically approved for persons with arthritis by the National Arthritis Foundation. The program emphasizes good body mechanics, keeping joints in a stable and functional position, and reducing the effort required to do activities by employing flotation devices and very lightweight equipment. The Elkins YMCA is very grateful for the bank’s generous contribution that is making all this possible.”

The YMCA is currently in the process of making the alley accessible for entry by a ramp into the pool area for those who are unable to maneuver stairs or are in wheelchairs.

“We are pleased to back this project for the community,” commented Citizens National Bank President & CEO Robert J. Schoonover. “Our financial pledge simply reinforces our bank’s commitment to the YMCA’s mission of building stronger kids, families and communities."

Citizens National Bank with $186,000,000 in assets has offices in Elkins, Parsons, Beverly, Petersburg, Snowshoe and Marlinton. A complete banking directory of services is available online at www.cnbelkins.com.
