Nathaniel Bonnell Honored for Highest CPA Exam Score in WV

Citizens National Bank’s Special Projects Officer Nathaniel Bonnell was recently recognized for attaining West Virginia’s highest average grade in passing all subjects at the examination for Certified Public Accountants. Bonnell was presented a certificate of merit for this achievement at a special ceremony held in Charleston.

In total, 448 candidates sat for the Certified Public Accountant Examination in Year 2003. Fifty-nine were successful in completing the examination, with just seven candidates passing all parts of the examination at their initial sitting.

Bonnell also successfully passed an exam recently designating him as a Certified Information Systems Auditor. This CISA credential enhances information security auditing at one of the highest skill levels.

At Citizens, Bonnell Works with CNB’s executive staff, assisting with strategic planning, budgeting, expense control, credit analysis, product profitability, software and systems evaluation, regulatory and reporting, market analysis, efficiency and workflow studies, and post implementation assessments. He also provides assistance to the Bank’s internal and external auditors.

Valedictorian of Davis & Elkins College’s Class of 2003, Bonnell graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Accounting & Management. Designations include All-American Scholar; 2003 Beta Alpha Beta Outstanding Business Student, Scholarship Award, and Leadership Award; D&E Academic Achievement Award (Dept. of Business Administration); Junior Marshal; James Rodish Memorial Scholarship; National Dean’s List; National Business Merit Award; Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges; and WV Society of CPAs Outstanding Accounting Senior Award.

A resident of Kerens, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Bonnell, and has one sister, Farrah.

“We’re honored that Nathaniel has chosen to devote his most impressive skills and professional achievements to his work at Citizens National Bank,” commented President Schoonover. “He has certainly distinguished himself in his education and employment at CNB. We feel fortunate to have him on our team and whole-heartily congratulate him on the highest honors attained on the CPA examination in our state for 2003.”

Citizens National Bank, with total assets of $212 million, offers full service banking, trust and investment services with offices in Elkins, Parsons, Beverly, Petersburg, Snowshoe and Marlinton.
