CNB's Executive Vice President Tapped to Serve on ABA Council

William T. Johnson, Jr., Executive Vice President of Citizens National Bank, has been appointed to serve on the American Bankers Association’s Community Bankers Council. The council, which meets several times a year to provide input to the association on issues affecting the nation’s community banks, is comprised of 100 bankers from institutions generally with under $1 billion in assets. Members are appointed from all 50 states by the ABA chairman.

The first meeting of the 2004/2005 Council was held Nov. 7 – 9 at the historic Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. Council members heard updates on important banking issues being considered by legislators and regulators. Other discussions included innovative ways to prevent financial fraud.

Johnson also met with John Reich, Vice Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, to offer the banking industry’s views on current banking policy issues.

“The meeting offered valuable information that I can take back to my bank and my peers in the industry,” said Johnson. “It was an excellent opportunity for me to provide my bank’s and my community’s perspective on the major banking issues being discussed in Washington.”

A member of the Fiflth District Advisory Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Johnson has been employed at Citizens National Bank for 41 years. He and his wife, Beverly Johnson, reside in Elkins and are members of the First United Methodist Church.

Citizens National Bank, with total assets of $212 million, has branch offices in Randolph, Tucker, Grant and Pocahontas Counties including Elkins, Parsons, Beverly, Petersburg, Snowshoe and Marlinton.

Celebrating their 80th anniversary, Citizens offers full service banking as well as trust and brokerage operations. A complete product and service directory is available online at www.cnbelkins.com.
